When someone shares their BennyList wishlist with you, you can reserve any item to let other gift-givers know you're buying it. This prevents duplicate gifts without spoiling the surprise — the wishlist owner only sees your message after the event.
Reserving is quick and requires no account. You just need your name and email address. The email is also how you unreserve later if plans change.
Step by step
Reserve an item in four steps
Open the shared wishlist link
Use the link the wishlist owner sent you. It opens in your browser — no sign-in needed.
Find an item you'd like to buy
Browse the list and pick something that hasn't been reserved yet. Items with a green “Reserve” button are still available.
Click or tap "Reserve"
Select the item you want, then click the green Reserve button. A form will appear asking for your details.
Enter your name and email, then confirm
Fill in your first name, last name, and email address. Add an optional message for the gift-giver. Click "Reserve Item" to claim it.

Things to know before you reserve
The wishlist owner cannot see who reserved items until after the event date.
Save the email you used — you'll need it if you want to unreserve later.
Items marked "🎁 Reserved" are already claimed by someone else.

Need to unreserve?
If your plans change, you can easily unreserve an item. Open the same shared wishlist link, find the item you reserved, and click Unreserve. You'll be asked for the email address you used when you originally reserved it. Once confirmed, the item becomes available again for others to claim.
Tip: Save the email address you use to reserve items — you'll need it to unreserve.

Do I need a BennyList account to reserve an item?
No. You only need your name and email address. No account sign-up is required to view a wishlist or reserve an item.
Will the wishlist owner know I reserved something?
Not immediately. Any message you leave is revealed to the wishlist owner after the event date they set. If no event date is set, the message is shown right away. Either way, the reservation itself (the item being marked as taken) is visible to other gift-givers visiting the list.
How do I unreserve an item if my plans change?
Go back to the shared wishlist, find the item you reserved, and click "Unreserve." You'll be asked for the email address you used when you reserved it. Once verified, the item is released and becomes available for others.
What if an item is already reserved?
Items that have been reserved show a "🎁 Reserved" badge instead of a green Reserve button. You can still choose other items on the list, or reach out to the wishlist owner if you believe the reservation was made by mistake.
Can I reserve multiple items on the same wishlist?
Yes. You can reserve as many items as you like on a single wishlist, as long as each item has an available Reserve button.
