FAQ

Registry completion questions

When is a registry considered 'complete'?

A wedding or baby registry is generally considered complete when you have 1.5โ€“2 items per guest expected. For 100 guests, that means 150โ€“200 registry items across a range of price points. You want enough variety that every guest can find something in their budget โ€” mix affordable items ($25โ€“$50), mid-range ($50โ€“$150), and a few larger items ($200+) that groups can chip in on.

What percentage of registry items get purchased?

On average, 60โ€“80% of registry items are purchased before or shortly after the event. The items most likely to be purchased are mid-priced items in the $30โ€“$100 range. Very cheap items (under $20) often get skipped, and very expensive items (over $300) may only be purchased by close family or as group gifts. Having items at every price point increases your completion rate.

How do I track who bought what from my registry?

Most major registries (Amazon, Crate & Barrel, Target) have a built-in purchase tracking view showing which items have been bought and who bought them (if they opted in). BennyList also shows purchase status directly on your registry. For tracking thank-you notes, export your purchase list and mark them off as you send notes.

Should I add items after the shower if some weren't purchased?

Yes โ€” it's perfectly fine to keep your registry active after your shower or wedding. Guests who couldn't attend may shop afterward, and late gifts from extended family often trickle in for weeks. Keep your registry up until about 3 months after the event, then close it out.

Can I add items to my registry after it's published?

Yes. All major registries allow ongoing edits โ€” you can add items, remove items, update quantities, or mark things as received at any time. It's a good idea to review your registry every few weeks during the engagement or pregnancy and refresh it as items go out of stock or as your needs evolve.
